About Cati:

Born in Versailles and raised in Grasse,  South of France, Cati studied Ballet extensively with renowned teachers and choreographers from Nice conservatory, Cuban National Ballet,  Rosella Hightower school in Cannes, The Marais School in Paris and Jacqueline Fynneart, Barre au sol (floor barre) teacher at the Paris Opera. 

She performed a wide range of the classical repertory before studying the Jose Limon, Martha Graham and release techniques in Paris. Cati has been a prolific Professional dancer,  World traveler Guest teacher and is an established and inventive Artistic Director, Screen Dance Filmmaker and Choreographer.  She is an associate faculty member in the Dance department at Santa Monica College, Board member and Co-Artistic Director of the International dance film festival  “Dance Camera West” in Los Angeles.

Wednesday: 10-11:30 am Intermediate Classical Barre au sol ($20)

Thursday: 10-11:30 am: Intermediate Ballet ($20)

Friday: 10-11:15 am: Beginning Classical Barre au sol ($20)

Friday: 11:20 am-12:30 pm: Beginning Modern Jazz ($20)

Saturday: 1-2 pm: Beginning Ballet barre and Classical Barre au sol ($20)

Sunday: 4:30-6 pm: Inter/Advanced Ballet ($20)

Ballet:

Cati Jean ’s Adult Ballet classes are based on the French Technique where she emphasizes on alignment, energy,  breath, dynamic, musicality and artistry. She is very keen to detail with a profound attention and care for each student.  She believes that Dance is Life and Life is Dance and bases her teaching approach on that philosophy.  

Classical Barre au sol (Ballet Floor barre):

This class is a thorough mind and body conditioning based on the principles of Traditional classical ballet. Its focus is on maintaining proper placement, strengthening the feet, ankles, legs, back and core muscles while working on flexibility, alignment and hip rotations. Cati' s class also focuses on the constant awareness of breath and energy, which helps the dancers to achieve detail work and prevent injuries. Her 30 years of teaching worldwide makes her an expert with a keen eye, generous heart and fun spirit. Her classes are technical, artistic and profound. Cati has studied Barre au sol growing up in the South of France and took daily classes in Paris with her mentor, Jacqueline Fynneart, Barre au sol professor at The Paris Opera with the Boris Knyazev method. 

*Please cover your legs and bring socks so you can slide. It tends to be a little cold in the studio in the morning, so add a sweater in your dance bag.

Modern Jazz (Beginning level): 

This class offers a simple warm up with isolations, stretches and the basic technique of Modern/Jazz, including across the floor and a combination.

You will learn how to move with fluidity, find your power, develop confidence, connect with music, rhythm and truly embrace your joy of dancing!

1 hour Beginning Ballet Barre AND Classical Barre au sol:

This one-hour class includes a half hour Basic Ballet Barre followed by a half hour Floor Barre. 

That Floor Barre (Barre au sol) is a thorough mind and body conditioning based on the principles of Traditional classical ballet. Its focus is on maintaining proper placement, strengthening the feet, ankles, legs, back and core muscles while working on flexibility, alignment and hip rotations. 

A perfect balance for Beginner dancers to assimilate a solid Ballet base.
