As a performer and audience member,
now is your opportunity to experience intimate dance theatre! Ongoing
performances highlight local dance companies. Audience members get
up close and personal as the 55-seats are situated directly on the
stage. In the adjacent reception room where art by local artists
is displayed, audience members will have an opportunity to mingle
with the performers following the concerts.
DanceSpot: performers information
Studio A Dance in Silver Lake announces a series of monthly or bi-monthly
dance concerts in our intimate performance venue, DanceSpot. Our
goal is to provide a performance space where local companies can
show their work. Concerts are generally held on the last Saturday
evening of each month.
Here is how it works:
* Companies or soloist audition by submitting a bio and a video
(DVD or youTube) of proposed piece. Pieces must be limited to 8
minutes. Companies are limited to 2 performances within a 12-month
period.
* If you are chosen to perform, we request a processing fee of $20,
and performers/companies are required to sell a minimal amount of
tickets: 2 per soloist, 3 per duet and 4 per company of 3 members
or more.
* One week prior to performance, companies meet for I/2 hour each
at DanceSpot to perform in the space and to collaborate on lighting
cues which we will program for you.
* One large shared dressing room is available for all dancers
* Audience seating capacity is 55, and tickets will be $15 each
($18 at the door). No comps. Only one exception: If the choreographer
is not dancing in his or her piece, we will comp that person only
as an audience member. Comps are non-transferrable. Reservations
made through Studio A Dance.
* We will post your dance description and dance photo on this page
prior to each show so that you can link friends.
* Note: because of the nature of our theatre, floorwork is
unable to be seen by much of the audience if performed dowwnstage,
so we suggest keeping the floorwork to mid-stage and upstage.
DanceSpot @ Studio A: description below & photos on our theatre
rental page
* Floor to ceiling Black Duvetyn drapes with 2 upstage entrances
and one mid-stage wing.

* 10 separate lighting schemes with programmable time faders
* Limit of 5 lighting cue changes per company
* Performance area is 24 feet wide by 20 feet deep
* Photographs of the theatre available at our website:studioadance.com
